I'm hardly ever in at the beginning - I was ahead of the curve on Black Sails and it felt like shouting into the void, honestly. It's a bit lonely. (Though I'm not actively fannish on it now, there are some BNFs in there that I'm not comfortable with.) I love my small fandoms, but I don't like being alone in my fannishness.
